- ¼ cup white sugar
- ¼ cup light brown sugar
- 1 cup flour
- 1 stick of butter or margarine
- ½ cup chopped pecans (optional)
- Peel, core and slice 6 large, mildly tart apples (preferably Winesap). Combine apples with ½ cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon.
- Place apple mixture into a lightly greased 8- by 12-inch baking dish.
- In a bowl, combine ingredients.
- Crumble mixture over apples. Bake at 325° for 1 hour. Serve warm with ice cream.
